When I found out that I got the April poster for the Dublin Flea Market, in newmarket square. I started sketching and planning what I wanted to make for it and what I wanted the poster to look like. I wanted to incorporate paper illustrations in it but I also wanted to add another texture to it. I wanted to incorporate felt into the piece as well as paper.
I tested a few elements before I decided what way I wanted the pieces to look and feel like. In the photos below, I was testing to see what colours I wanted to use, if I wanted to add line work and testing out the spiral for the telephone cord. I decided against the line details and went with just the mix of felt and paper.
I decided to make a list of the things that you might pick up at the flea market and then I would have them exploding from the text that would say ‘Dublin Flea Market’. I made the parts of each piece in felt and in paper so I could mix them around and see what worked best.
Apart from the informative text, everything else is just the pink, purple and white colour scheme of felt and paper.
This is the Facebook banner that was rearranged and created to suit the different aspects of a Facebook header.
You can still purschase this limited edition print at the Dublin Flea Market which is on the last Sunday of every month in Newmarket Square.
I also displayed at the flea market which was great as I got to talk to people about the pieces and see what else they would like to see made.
Thanks,
