Granola

I'm a big lover of breakfast and brunch, or anything snack like really. But my main obsession at the minute is making some homemade granola and having it with natural greek yoghurt, raspberries and honey. I mainly started making granola myself as there was always something in the ones you can buy in the shops that I didn't want to eat, such as dried strawberries (Bleh!) or hazelnuts (not a fan!) So I wanted to share the recipe for the granola I make at home. This is also a recipe where you can add whatever you want to as well, e.g. more seeds, less seeds, dried fruit, etc. This mix will fill a medium Ikea jar.

So here's what you'll need:
3 cups large porridge oats
A handful of almonds (pop them in a sambo bag and beat them, saves time on chopping)
3 tablespoons of honey
Some butter
Any extra ingredient you'd like to add

Let's get started:
Add oats and almonds, and rest of dry ingredients to a bowl and mix.
Add your honey and mix altogether.
Add a bit of butter to a pan on a high heat.
Add granola mix and continuously mix with a wooden spoon.
(May need to do 2 batches depending on size of pan)
Mix in pan for 5-7 minutes until mix is golden brown.
Add to an air tight jar (I used this Ikea one), leave jar open until mix is cool.
Mix will store for 1-2 weeks (if you can even leave it that long).

Enjoy!

Introduction

Hi, I'm Jessica, as you may have guessed from the website name. I decided to start a blog after finishing college so I would still have a constant project to keep up with and track my progress of different projects that i'm working on. For one of my final projects in college I decided to write, illustrated and create a children's pop up book with a little bit of a difference. The book comes with a small torch, which you use to make shadows from the pop ups, which adds a more diverse element to the book (see image below). And so, I also wanted to use this blog space as a place where I could document the process of getting the book published, or trying to print, make and sell it myself. I know this process is never easy and it will obviously take a lot of research, emails and time to get it out there into people's hands, but i'm so excited to give it a shot as I really believe in this book and want other people to enjoy it as well.

I'm going to aim for at least one post a week. I'm thinking every Wednesday, as it's a nice midweek slot. I've never "themed" any of my social medias, so expect a wide range of posts. The main posts will be about illustration and design processes, art inspirations, recipes for baking, personal style, hauls/wish lists, reviews on different art supplies, and i'm also thinking of writing about small businesses every now and again that i'm currently loving. There will more than likely be more variations to these posts too as I get inspired by new things, but lets just say this is what it'll all be about for now.

I'm also not the best writer of all time, but i'm going to try my best to make all of these posts fun and enjoyable to read.

I hope you guys enjoy my content, I'm so excited to get started!

Jess x
